NAME OF MINISTRY: HOLIDAY BIBLE CLUB (HBC)

(A) Description of this ministry.
This year we are eager to run a Holiday Bible Club outreach to the community. We will take a week of the October school holidays to teach church & community children the Bible using Scripture Union material. Out target is ambitious - to have 100 children attending. Please pray for us to gather all the necessary workers.

All those 18 years old and over, working in HBC with children, will need a current Working with Children Check (WWCC).

(B) When?

Daily from Mon Oct 8 to Fri Oct 12; start at 8:30 am and finish at noon.

(C) Positions available and main functions

Drama Team: assist the Drama Coordinator to put on a daily skit/drama of a different Bible character each day. HBC can use a different person each day or the same person over several days.

Admin Team: assist the Admin Coordinator and teachers to help with various admin tasks (e.g. – team coordination & training, participant registration, enrollment on the first day, etc.)

Craft Helpers: helping the Craft Coordinator to cut-out and assemble craft packets for the various HBC classes. Most of the work must be done before HBC, so that most helpers don’t need to be available in Oct

Sound Desk/Computer Desk: those who are trained, or could be trained before HBC, to run the Sound and Computer Desk each day of HBC. It’s preferable to have the same person several days in a row.

First Aid officer: anyone with Medical training in First Aid who is willing to be present each day of HBC. Several people could share this position.

Games Helpers: assist the Games Coordinator to teach and demonstrate the various HBC games / activities to the children

Teachers: adults to teach the Scripture Union material to the various classes. Our aim is to have 1 teacher for every 6-8 students, thus keeping the class sizes small. We’ll need at least 12 teachers for this ratio.

Teacher helpers: teens or adults to assist the Teachers in the classes. Our aim is to pair each teacher with one helper, thus providing a good level for duty-of-care and offering proper support to the teachers.

(F) How do I know when I am on?

The Coordinators will contact you by e-mail or phone to let you know about future training and work dates. Coordinators are currently being sought, so initial contact might be of a general nature to acknowledge that we are keen to receive your help and work together. During March and April we will recruit; by May we will announce training and preparation work days.
